How about a fun holiday themed Thrift Store Swap? I seriously love these Thrift Store Swap posts. Here’s why: It’s an excuse to go to the thrift store. I like being challenged. It’s a reason to get my craft/diy on. Last but not least, I get to share the experience with my bloggy friends who love it for all the same reasons. Lyn, Mid Michigan Mom, is our genius blogger who came up with The Thrift Store Swap!
Just to refresh your memory on how this how thing works. I purchased a few thrift store items with a budget of $10 and shipped them off to another blogger. 11 other bloggers did the same thing, shopped and shipped. When we get our thrifted items we have to repurpose, craft, diy them into something else. We all reveal our thrifted pieces, creative process and our finished items on the same day.
My bloggy friend Ashley from 3 Little Greenwoods sent me those goodies. A 3 pack of battery operated candles and Christmas bells.
It’s funny that the last swap (see this post) I made something to use to decorate our porch for fall. Well, this time I was inspired again to decorate the porch, this time for Christmas. I had been wanting hang ornaments and decorations in those openings on the porch, and I did with a slight twist.
I built 2 rectangular frames just from pieces in the scrap pile. I cut 4 11 inch pieces and 4 4 inch pieces.
Then nailed them together. Super easy.
I painted the frames white, you could paint them any color to go with your decor. Then glue the candles onto the frame centered in the opening.
I just used cheap ribbon from the dollar store wrapped and glued around the frame and hung them with the ribbon.
When I picked up the ribbon I also bought some cheap plastic ornaments. I glued the ribbon to the ornament tops with varied lengths of ribbon and hung them around the candles.
The bells that Ashley sent were the color inspiration for the porch decoration so instead of painting it I just hung them on the middle porch post. It tied it all in nice.
I wrote a post about ideas of what Lindsay of My Creative Days could possible do with that candlestick. Head to her blog to see what she did and to see what else I sent her.
Below is all of the participating bloggers and their projects for the swap:

Now leave me a comment to tell me what you would have done with the things that Ashley sent me and with what you would do with what I sent to Lindsay.
