Hi Friends! Can you believe it’s spring? and Easter is just around the corner. I know I keep saying that I don’t really decorate for the holidays but then do a project for the upcoming holiday. So the truth is I really want to decorate for the holidays but for it to blend in with our home’s decor. Today’s project should be no surprise how it fits in. I think you’ll love this Easter Bunny Suncatcher.
Gather your supplies and let’s begin. You’ll need a large piece of glass. The piece I am using is left over from my Lace Earring Organizer. You don’t have to use an oval, in fact I’m sure this would look great on a square or rectangular piece of glass.
Supplies:
- piece of glass
- white school glue
- food coloring
- washi tape
- white vinyl
- ribbon
- E6000 glue
Step 1- Clean your piece of glass to remove any finger prints and dust and whatnot.
Step 2 – Pour white school glue into a cup or bowl then add food coloring, I was going for a blue (of course), light blue teal color. Keep in mind the glue will dry clear/transparent. When you have the color you want brush the glue onto the clean glass in even strokes, the glue will spread and settle and you shouldn’t see the brush strokes. Now you wait for the glue to dry. Mine took several hours, but it was a cool rainy day.
Step 3-Cut a bunny shape out of your white vinyl. I didn’t have a bunny on my cricut but maybe you do or on your Silhoutte. I googled “bunny silhouette” looking for the perfect bunny shape and landed here so I printed out her bunny, taped it to the white vinyl and cut it out with scissors. Once the glue is dry you can apply your bunny silhouette to the other side of the glass. (Hint: clean that side too)
Step 4- Add Washi tape to the edge of the glass. If you used a square or rectangle this should be pretty easy. When you are adding the washi tape I found it easier to unroll the tape and stick it to the thin edge all the way around before I pressed it down. You want the side that’s not glued to have more tape than the glued side because this is still transparent glass and if you fold over too much tape on the back side you will see the wrong side of the tape through the front side of the glass. For the oval piece of glass before I could press the tape down I had to go all the way around making slits and then folding each slit.
Step 4- Make a bow out of your ribbon. Glue a ribbon loop to hang the suncatcher from and the bow to the glass with the E600o glue. Give it plenty of time to dry then hang in your window.
