You know how much I love using something that would otherwise not be useful like scrap. The other day when my husband was cleaning out his work trailer I found several scraps of fluted casing that were about 16 inches long-not useful to him or any of his projects but I could certainly make something from it like a Scrap Wood Christmas Tree.
I’ll be honest, we have our Christmas totes all out of the attic and plan to get a tree soon but our Christmas decorations are not up…yet. I had hoped to get at least a start on decorating before this project was finished. I promise to update this post with more photos later.
These are the scraps I found/took. I only ended up needing 3 pieces to make 1 tree. Plus I found another piece of scrap to use as the tree trunk.
Cut the casing (or you could use any scrap pieces like pallet. ) into the following measurements: 3 in, 6 in, 9 in, 12 in and 15 in.
To assemble: measure the width of your tree trunk. On the back of each tree piece mark the center from the center mark the width of the trunk piece. Then add a dab of wood glue. Making sure all the pieces are evenly spaced apart nail together.
I painted the tree with craft paint and not very carefully. I was kinda going for a rough distressed rustic look.
I hope this Scrap Wood Christmas Tree is getting you inspired because this project is part of a Creative Christmas Blog Hop! Below is all the creativeness from a big group of great bloggers. I truly hope you find something to inspire you!
