Valentine Luminaire

Valentine Luminaire

Hi Friends! Surprise I’m here with another Valentine project for you. When I shared the Valentine Sweater Pillow with you I said I don’t decorate for Valentine’s day. Well, after making the pillow I decided to slowly start adding to my love décor. I’m not saying I’m going to be all red and hearts everywhere but a few, maybe. Ha!  This is a red and hearts combined in one project. I made a Valentine Luminaire!

I don’t know why I’m in this luminaire kick, I think because it’s inexpensive and super easy. Remember I made Luminaries for Halloween and Thanksgiving?  Those were easy and this project is similar.

You will need:

glass vase or container

red flat marbles/glass gems

hot glue

Glass frosting spray (optional)

Almost a craft fail

Ok I have to stop right here and tell you this was almost a craft fail. I knew I would need a clear glue so I bought the E6000 glue in clear and tried to use it to make this luminaire. FAIL! The glue doesn’t set quick enough so I had red glass gems sliding all over the vase and glue everywhere!!! Live and learn right. I tried the hot glue as a last resort, not sure why I didn’t start there or think it would work but it worked perfectly.

Moving on….

To start I sprayed the glass vase with the glass frost or etching spray paint. You could leave the vase as is and it would work fine. I thought they frosted look might be more romantic.

After frosted and dry I fold a piece of paper to fit inside the vase. Then drew a heart shape on the paper and put the paper inside the vase as a guide.

Then I just glued the red glass gems onto the vase using the hot glue gun and following the heart shape.

The project could be made for as little as $2, a little more if you use the frosted glass spray. The red gems look pretty with light shining through them.

I hope you have a very Happy Valentines Day!
