Did you know May is BBQ month? I guess I didn’t know until my friends at FarmRich told me about it. We haven’t been able to BBQ much lately because of our puppy. He is full of puppy energy, oh but I still love him so much. Tyson (aka destructive puppy) was getting into the sandbox, chewing up kid toys and leaving not so nice presents on our deck so we blocked the steps to the deck with a lovely (not) piece of plywood. That was temporary. We decided to build a deck gate to keep him out and let us still enjoy our deck for playing and BBQ’s. As soon as we had it in place we celebrated with a BBQ FarmRich Style. (Disclosure: I was provided coupons for free Farmrich products. This post reflects my words, thoughts and opinions regarding FarmRich Products.)
I may have mentioned that before here that my husband is an excellent carpenter, it’s so true. Well since this was a major need for our home and family and time sensitive (birthday party coming up) he built the gate. And let’s face it my DIY skills are coming along but slowly and it would have taken me all week to build what he did in one day. So this post is not a tutorial on how to build a gate but more of sharing the idea and how we did it.
That’s our deck before. Yes it needs lots of work and so does our back yard (goodbye weeds).
My husband started the build with treated lumbar.
As soon as the gate was installed we were ready for a puppy free meal outside and why not celebrate BBQ month. Oh but one problem, having 3 kids in sports means we are running everywhere to practices and games or meets and preparing a family BBQ meal is not easy when you aren’t home. Thanks to Farm Rich though and their new line of Smokehouse BBQ we can still enjoy a BBQ and thanks to the gate we can enjoy it out on our deck.
Farm Rich has a line of Smokehouse BBQ products that sounded like the perfect thing to serve at our little gate celebration. The nice people at Farm Rich sent me a few coupons for free Smokehouse BBQ products, which I used to buy to packages of Pulled Beef Brisket. That night I was in and out of the house driving kids everywhere when I would usually be preparing dinner so I put both packages in the slow cooker to thaw and warm. 3 hours on low and it worked perfectly and I didn’t have to attend to it all evening or worry and fuss over dinner. It was delicious!!! Everyone liked it here and it was approved to have again. There was a little leftover from dinner that night that I had for lunch the next day, just as delicious. If you go to the Farm Rich Website you can find recipes to use with their products. With a little more time to prepare dinner I will be trying some of the recipes too, like Pulled Beef Brisket Enchiladas. Farm Rich is great for busy families isn’t it?!?!
Thanks for stopping by At Home with Sweet T!
