Friday Night Lights Series Kick-Off

It’s Football season!!! My oldest son plays high school football and tonight the season kicks off with an away game. He’s a Junior this year and this will be my first Varsity-Friday night game to attend. I’ve been home with babies- taking the littles to a Varsity football game sounds anything but fun.

Starting tonight I will be doing a series of posts on Friday nights. So welcome to the Friday Night Light Series here at At Home with Sweet T! For the next several Friday nights I will be sharing lots of Friday Night Lights related ideas so don’t forget to stop by every Friday night.

To kick off this series I have rounded up a bunch of great ideas to get your creative spirit in the football spirit.

I put out a call for all things high school football and here are some of the ideas that were shared with me. In the next several weeks I will share some great ways that I am showing school spirit at home and at the games.

Here are two great ways to show your spirit at the games this season:

Melissa from Melly Sews is a coach’s wife and created this adorable dress as an alternative to the boxy t-shirts and hot jeans to wear to games. See how she made this dress here or click on the picture, and while you’re there check out her other game day dress for inspiration.

Show your spirit with great nails like these from Ange at Hairspray and Highheels. You could do green like the turf or go with school colors. Click the picture or here for the tutorial.

There’s nothing like some great tailgating to get you in the spirit. Check out these great desserts:

All three of these great football themed desserts come from Arena at The Nerd’s Wife.  These treats look great and can be used for tailgating or feeding your players or for any football themed party.

How cute are these cupcakes from Creative Southern Home? You could use any color you want! Kallee shows you how she suited up these bears for game day here (or click the pic).

These cookies from Stow and Tell U are easy and need no cookie cutter. That’s right Amy will show you how to make these football shaped cookies without using a cookie cutter here or click on the cookies.

Drink with football style:

You’ll need to wash all the treats down so why not do it with a cool looking Astro Turf Koozie by The Nerd’s Wife.

These mason jars are my favorite! Probably because they are so easy. Bev at Flamingo Toes uses root beer in her jars but I think Sweet tea would work great to (you knew I was going to say that right?) She used white electrical tape, I don’t have that so I will be making mine with white vinyl. You know I am making these even if I can’t take it into the game it’ll get me in the mood on the way to the game.

I did put out the call for all things Friday Night hoping to get some ideas for cheerleaders, marching band well everything involved with Friday Night Highschool Football. Besides football this was the only thing I could get permission and round up for you. I think it’s a great idea, it’s a cheer bucket from Sarah at The Intentional Mom. A place to sit and a place to store cheer things.

Decorate for Football Season:

You have to go read this post at Cottage at the Crossroads written by her husband (or was it?) LOL! It’s a great use of burlap at home to decorate for football season.

Know how to be the best Football Mom:

And lastly a little Football Mom Etiquette. I love that these moms are there for each other watching their boys play. Football Mom Julie at The Virtual Mom Blog wrote the etiquette to brush up on.

See you next Friday as the Friday Night Light Series continues at At Home with Sweet T!

Thanks for stopping by At Home with Sweet T!!!
